I grew up in the mountains near Coudersport. While traveling through the area last summer I noticed multiple spellings. Alleghany, Allegheny, Allegany depending whether you were in PA or NY.
What is your take on the spelling?

Bass Fishing anyone?

Micropterus is the genus for Black Bass, which include largemouth (Micropterus salmoides) and smallmouth (Micropterus dolomieui).

I happen to spend a great deal of my free time trying to get bit by large versions of these critters.

A varient of a Korean work that loosely translates to "urgent" or emergency. I am an ER nurse, although I am not Korean, I have an avid interest in the culture (and the food, mmmmmm). I also use the name in my e-mail because it really throws off the spammers.

Sometime, after much research and effort I may make a POI file of Korean restauraunts and markets in my area (NJ,DE, Philly, NY). MOst are Ma and Pop places so I will vist them myself. Mmmmmmm

Long way from home now, huh, Alleghany? I'm from Northwest PA, myself, and still live here.

When I found POI Factory and signed up I had just gotten my first tracking-type gps. I got back into the woods hiking all over in my area to get in shape (after too many years of inactivity).

Anyway, I just like to hike out there with no distractions except what Mother Nature puts around me (no cell phone, mp3, etc.) so thought Zen-Hiker sounded good for this site!

Kinzua!!! I love that area!! Haven't been there since the 70's! You guys just gave me an idea for my next road trip!!

My Nick

Some 45 years ago my best friend's dad showed me a pic of Harpo Marx. I had the big curly hair and the name stuck. Don't have the hair but still have the name. 66 from Route66.

K2MFW

My ham radio callsign.

www.qrz.com to look them up.

Each state, I think all of them, have ham radio callsign license plates, you may have seen them.

They are "public service" license plates and cost only a fraction of personalized plates.

Interested in ham radio and how GPS is used with it?

Do a search on APRS, Automatic Position Reporting System...we broadcast our position, speed, course and altitude to the internet, viewable online...it's free and only requires a ham radio license.

Bandaid

Well there isn’t much to the name Bandaid. When I came across POI-Factory and decided to join the forum I thought it would be something temporary. I didn’t know at the time how cool this place was. I would be here day in and day out reading up on threads checking out POI’s, okay you get the point. I needed a username and came up with nothing. My little one (Christine) came up with bandaid and so my friends, I am Bandaid.

I'm in the computer business and we "LeapFrog" our competition. Someone else already was using that screen name, so this was the next logical choice.

Gunner

I rescued a dog earlier in 2008, his name is Gunner so I stuck with it. He's a very loyal companion, 99% sure he's a Belgian Shepherd (aka, Malinois) but no one really knows. Gunner looks almost exactly like this dog:

I enjoy this site greatly. Thanks very much to all that contribute to make all the databases complete and available! This is a good group of people.
