Syntax for gpx file to have images added to custom POIs

I have a nuvi 265T, and want to take advantage of the ability to have image associated with my custom poi's. How do I do this. I don't want to have them as favorites, I want to have them as custom POI's.
I generate a gpx file to upload with POIloader, but don't know the proper syntax to add images.
thanks,
charlie71

Try this

Drop this in between the waypoint tages.

< link href="Oklahoma%20City.JPG"/ >

.

The easy way is to get GeePeeEx Editor, or at least the trial version: http://geepeeex.googlepages.com/

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Thanks!

Do I need to have the jpg file in the folder where the GPX file is when I run POILoader, or do I just have to have the jpg file on my Nuvi in the JPG folder?
many thanks,
ck

JPEG

POILoader builds the JPEG files into the .GPI file. Only the .GPI file is transferred to the Nüvi. The JPEG locations are specified in the <link> statements, within the .gpx file.

If I have 50 custom POI's

If I have 50 custom POI's each with a jpg image, will that slow it down? My images are about 600x 800.

Should be fine...

I would resize the JPEGs to match the device (rather than having the device do it, every time you view one), but otherwise, I wouldn't expect a problem.

There's a commercial product, that has 900 images, in one 35Mb .GPI file. It works well!

TourGuide functionality allows for it!

Check this utility, for a very easy way (and free) to associate pictures with POIs. Look at Example 5.

The functionality that allows the association of images to single POIs is covered under "TourGuides", as TourGuides would typically have a specific image related to a specific POI.

You don't need to use the TourGuide sound files if you don't require it.

You'll see in there that you can very easily maintain a "csv like" text file, and have it converted t gpx with the proper tags required to associated the image to the POIs.
