Red Light Camera Detector
Gee, for that price I can buy a Garmin and pay $20 a year for the POI-Factory Red Light and Speed Camera files and have even better functionality!

Yeah the price seems a little steep for the functionality, especially since you can buy online for $129 http://www.redlightcameradetectors.com/gpsangel.html
Just what I need...
Another device for the car, right next to the GPS and radar/laser detector. I just wonder how long they will stay in business...
How does it work?
Does anyone know how this thing works? Does it use batteries?
It's a GPSr without a display, it is a locator not a detector

This not a detector, its a GPSr without a display, it uses led as a warning simulator to a detector.
No batteries needed, comes with a Cigarette plug.
My suggestion, buy a cheap entry level Garmin Nuvi 200 first, at least it has a led display screen, it may not warn any better but it can get you home.

Cost saving?
I was just thinking that with cities putting in new redlight and speed cameras faster than POI Factory can update its file, getting caught by just one of the NEW cameras could cost you around $170.00 which is more than this unit is selling for.
But it uses a database too!

We now where the updates for POI-Factory cameras comes from, users in the cities. Where does this unit get its updates - and who maintains the data file that needs to be regularly updated? How often is that database updated? Miss POI updates ours weekly (not weakly) so it is always fresh.

It looks like about the same exact thing. It's gotta be from the same company.
