Doesn't his have older processor ? I have heard that xx5 serise(255, 265 , 785) have newer and faster processor for better refresh rate of the screen and faster route calculation.. that was the reason I went for 255W.
I know Nuvi 780 have more features than 255w but I didn't really care for those.
Sorry if I am wrong...
Thanks

The xx5 series does have a newer, faster processor, and also some new features. That being said the 780 is still an excellent unit if you want to use MSN Direct. There's really nothing wrong with them, and some people have mentioned that they like some features that were taken away with the xx5 series.

Yes, the xx0 series will probably be dropped soon, but Garmin continues to support the units and there shouldn't be any trouble. The 350 has been obsolete for some time and is still a very popular unit.

Nuvi 780

Nuvi 780 is still agreat unit to have.

Looks like a great deal.

Looks like a great deal.

I haven't noticed any difference in performance

I currently have both the 265wt and the 760 and have been trying to decide which one I want to keep. One of my trials with them was to compare their performance by calculating a long route to see which one completes it more quickly. I set up a route from Cincinnati, Oh to San Diego, CA (a 2235 mi trip on my 760) and both took within a second of the same time to complete the route calculations and get to a ready to navigate state. I was surprised!

Performance Difference

Interesting. You may want keep the 760 then.

Do you notice that the 265 acquires satellites faster?

I agree, I'm almost decided on keeping the 760. I really like the ability to set up multi-stop routes and save them and particularly like the route optimization capability of the 760. The other major differences: the mp3 player and FM transmitter are just a nice to have's for me.

I haven't noticed any real difference in their speed of acquiring satellites although I haven't really experimented. Both of them are fast enough by my standards. First time out of the box each one took about 2-3 minutes I would guess. On a day-to-day warm-fix basis, they both seem to lock on within 5-15 seconds. But again, these numbers are just my perception; I haven't actually timed them.

Don't forget the $50 BB

Don't forget the $50 BB coupon, which is still good thru Dec!

Good price

that is a good price but I am still waiting for a good deal on the 765t or 775t.

They will not honor the

They will not honor the coupon for units on special.I tried it in Florida for that same unit.It comes with the MSN receiver and 3 months service.

Good price!

This is a good price comared to others selling the 780. MSN traffic has a few cool features like searching for low gas prices, movie times, etc.

just "doorbuster" type deals

Best Buy will let you use the $50 coupon for sale items ... just not on those limited hour/Black Friday Doorbuster type deals.

Entire Nuvi 7*0 series are no good

I tried Nuvi 750, 760, and 780. None of those had signals in my house. The Nuvi 350, 680, C550, C580 have very strong signal.

I would take the 7*0 series any day over the c550

I have both the 760 and the c550 and the 760 acquires the signals inside my house as fast or faster then the c550 does. Plus the other series are missing a number of the usefull functions as the 7*0 series have in particular the multi point routing.

My Nuvi 255W sometimes acquires signal in my house but mostly not. Is that something to complain about? Outside it acquries signal in 10sec or less.
First time user of GPS and been using it for 2 weeks now.
Thanks.

They quoted to me the sentence "Not good in combination with any other coupon or offers" Being on sale was offers .Could have used it for any other one not on sale or that one when not on sale.I went from the salesperson to a manager same answer.Maybe another store may see it different but that is what I was told.

2008 maps

Just be aware that that price is for the unit with the 2008 prices.

Satellites

My Nuvi 750 gets satellites very quickly in my house. Never had a problem. It may take a little longer at times because I haven't used it in a couple of weeks or so but very happy with satellite reception.

Get a new GPS or be homeless?

Well I am tempted. I got the Garmin C340 last year, and had no idea it was going to be discontinued.

My problem is I moved in to help my elderly mother. So all I need is to show up or have a new GPS delivered to my house and find myself on the street. LOL!

I do want to thank the folks for setting up the POI. I am not so tech savy, or have the time to list all the Starbucks around town, BUT I appreciate it.

How many POI sites are there anyway (just curious)? I heard this was the best of them.

Regards
~L~

Inside the house?

I know where all the rooms are inside my house so a GPS is pretty much useless. OTOH, the wife's 760 acquires them while I'm in the den and also does a pretty good job in her car.
