How many have bought GPS'rs as gifts?

Just curious...
How many have, or plan, to give a GPS as a gift?

Last week, I picked up a 650 for my parents. (Pre christmas etc.. It was a sale and it fit my parent's needs. She didnt want/need traffic. And besides if they needed it they can use the receiver from my 660. Plus, traffic services, in my experience, havent been all that useful anyway.)

It came about as a the perfect gift when I had let my mother borrow my 660 for a trip to a relative.

I had set it up with the destination so all she had to do was choose em.

At first she wasnt all that big on it, but thought it would be a nice helper.
When I stopped by to pick it up.. The first thing she said to me was "I want one".. grin
I KNEW that would happen too! grin
This seems to be the general reaction from people that borrow em. Or is it just me? Hehehehe

When I got the unit, I updated the maps, loaded up the redlight cams and got it all ready.

A USEFUL gift is something that I enjoy buying. Heck, I actually hate shopping for gifts because I never know what anybody 'wants'.

Earlier this year I bought the GF a 360. She loved my 350 so much I got her a 360(because I wanted her to have the handfree blutooth for her phone).

It just seems that of the gifts I have had to buy this year, the gps'rs have been the ones that have been appreciated, and are useful.
(Plus..being similar garmins to my the one's I own, I can easily answer any questions they have about em).

My son gets one

I really like the reconditioned 660 in my car and use it a lot. My son started dropping hints during the summer that he'd like one as well.

So I got another reconditioned 660 on eBay, but they sent me a 680 instead!

After playing with it for a while, my son is getting the 660, and I'm keeping the 680.

And I've had great luck with the reconditioned units; the 680 arrived with the older 2008 maps, but a brief e-mail exchange with Garmin Support resulted in a free 2009 map update arriving in yesterday's mail.

GPS Xmas Gift

I bought a Garmin 200 for myself on Black Friday. I bought my son a Garmin 255W. I can hardly wait to give it to him. I opened mine right away and have been playing with it. My sister used a Garmin earlier in the year to caravan my family in NC to our brother's wedding in PA. I was so impressed. My son keeps the road hot so he definitely needed one. My father wants one even though he doesn't drive far. We're afraid he will pay less attention to the road than he does now. We may go in together and get him one. I'd recommend it as a gift to anyone.

265wt

got a 265wt going to two sets of parents!

GPS Gift

I would like to give my wife one. She is horrible with directions and when there's a new place she needs to go to, I have to physically drive with her and show her.

However she refuses to use a GPS saying it's too complicated. I have tried to show her how easy a Garmin is to use, but to no avail. I guess I will stay the "designated navigator" for awhile!

Convinced

Once my wife was riding with me and I had to make two tricky turns in an area we did not know very well. My wife is now sold on it and wants one of her own.

Thanks, PCPro! I'll try to convince her.

make it special with POIs

Last year I bought a 660 in September. I was so impressed, we bought a 650 for each of the kids and their families. At the time both were living in Pittsburgh. If you've ever been, you'll know a GPS is an essential tool there if you weren't born there.

This year I got the wife a 750. She's a knitter and I've been able to assemble a poi file with over 2000 yarn and knitting shops and I'm preloading it. She'll be the envy of her knitting friends.

I did...

I bought one for my mom. That woman gets lost everywhere.

We're planning on getting

We're planning on getting one for my in-laws. Don't want anything expensive but it has to be super simple to use as they live in the technological dark ages. Our main requirement is text-to-speech and <$200. Just looked at Costco and they have the Magellan 1412 and 1212 on-hand. Not sure what we'll go with yet as I'm very familiar with Garmin but haven't tried any of the others out.

Under 200

Costco's web site has the Garmin 750 for 199.99 and Newegg has a recertified 750 for 169.99
