Another use for poi

Two of my favorite hobbies crossed paths the other day.

I was working on the best process for aiming my satellite dish when setting up camp in our RV (we still use the manual process). It is always a pain to get my aiming angles, elevation and azimuth, off the satellite receiver. You have to know your lat/lon coordinates.

Normally I would set up my laptop and find the coordinates through one of the mapping or POI files. You would then insert into satellite setup on the sat receiver and obtain the aiming angles........

I found a piece of software that gives the aiming angles to the satellite by inserting lat/lon or zip codes. I then computed the angles and amended all the names of my camping POI file with the el and az angles which are visible on my gps screen. The gps is always on when we arrive at the camping spot.

In doing this I also learned "concatenate" , "line breaks" and other short cuts.... only much too late!

This will save time and effort in the future.
