I bought a nuvi 350 from Amazon about 5 months ago. I didn’t really need it because both of my cars have the factory installed gps units in the dash. but I liked the idea of having the street names announced before the turns. When I registered the nuvi, the web site indicated that a free 2009 map update was available, so I downloaded and installed it . Had no problems and still use the 350 along with the other units.
Then someone posted a bit about getting a free nuvi 200 with the activation of a Discover card. The price seemed right, and in less than 3 weeks a package came from Amazon. For some reason they had replaced my 200 with a nuvi 270. No problems there either. so I registered the unit and again downloaded all the latest goodies.
Someone one this site explained how to add a supplemental world map with greater detail, and I was happy again.
Then 2 days ago I received an e-mail from Garmin giving me a code and a key number, and instructions to connect my 270 and then click on an included link. Then the downloading started and the 2008 Europe map was replaced with a 2009 version. Now the free nuvi 270 has the 2009 North American, the supplemental World map and the new 2009 Europe and Asia maps all installed for free.
I feel that I should run out and buy a lottery ticket

I few months ago I gave my c330 to my folks. So my wife has not had a gps in the car since. I found a nuvi 760 for $249 from buydig.com and it will arrive tomorrow.

The outlet mall didn't have a parking space to be found on Black Friday. That should be a good economic indicator.

Please say that this has not really happened somewhere! Wondering now, just what was so worth it for a stampede...

I may attempt a little cyber Monday shopping later this afternoon, if I can get a break after being out a week.

I have had some problems with my map since I downloaded 2009. Any one else have issues

Wow! Would you believe the recession started in December of 2007. We have been lied to for almost a year. Who do you trust. The Gov't and financial gurus have been stating all is well or is in good hands. People losing jobs and thousands of dollars are being lost in the Stock market. Go figure.

All I can say is that 2009 should be a much better year with a new Congress and a new President in office. At least it will start out right begining January 21.

I am glad we have a new president but don't count on 2009 being a good year. The issues are too deep even for the best and it will take a lot longer than a year to clean up this mess.

I get up everymorning at 5am, after breakfast I go on line to the the lasted deals, it seems that because it is 5am earlier back east that all the good deals have allready expired. Does anyone else find this to be true. I had the same problem on Friday, all the on deals were sold out at 5am pacific time.

Winter has finally begun!!! We are enshrouded in this great mist called fog. Another telltale sign of winter is the sniffles and coughs that come around my way.

Seems like there were good deals, too bad I had no money to buy anything. Not that I needed anything anyway.

The detailed world map that aleanderrg mentioned sounds interesting. Can someone clarify which the best map?

Searching the forums I found:
1. BaseMap for free from Garmin (Size is appr. 33 MB compared to the Atlantic BaseMap 7 MB).

2. You need some tools to get the work done. Look for cgpsmapper, MapSetToolKit and GmapTool...

Before playing with #2, I would appreciate anybody's feedback or additional alternates.

It's 2 degrees with a minus 9 windchill this morning. Winter is definitely here!!

Can't wait to see the dog and pony show the auto makers will make before congress.That one about 95% of your pay when you get laid off.How many of us would have like to have that benefit? I buy American cars but now that you start seeing why the exta cost is added to the price compared to foreign.It does make you understand how they got into this fix.
