Hello

After several days of obsessive research, I'm now entering the world of GPS. I finally selected a Garmin 765T, when I found it for 370 @ ABT.com. (Another site had it cheaper when looking through Amazon, but when I went to the check out, the price increased from ~340 to over 450.)

I look forward to being involved in this forum. To help round out the experience, does anybody have recommendations for other good GPS sites besides here and Garmin?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome

also my first GPS, so I hope to learn a lot from you and other 765T owners as we all get more experience.

at the moment, I am experimenting with sending routes that I have created at the MapQuest site to my 765T...not sure that I have it quite down pat just yet...going to try a route to work this morning that I laid out on MapQuest.

I have also played around with the TourGuide POI's and a couple Redlight ones.

I grabbed the Rest Areas POI's here for use on my trip from Pittsburgh to South Carolina and back, for the Christmas holiday.

you have chosen a great place here.

not only is this the best site that I have found for GPS info, I think it is one of the very best sites OF ANY KIND, that I have ever found.

Thanks to everybody for the fast and thorough feedback. This will be fun. http://www.poi-factory.com/sites/all/modules/smileys/packs/n...

Talk to you later.

Let me know how you like it.

I am looking at the 765t also. Have heard mixed reviews so I would be interested in your opinion about it. I have a Nuvi 650 but I like the extras on the 765t, including the routing options, lane change, and free traffic services.

welcome

Bearing Guy,Glad you joined us, don't look for the rest because you have found the best,so just dive in. grin

For bsp131

I'll let you know. I've just borrowed a friend's Garmin 660 for a few days to compare things before mine arrives.

I think your analysis is spot on. Every choice in GPS seems to have an interesting balance of pro's versus cons.

It took me a while to learn that xxxT meant free traffic (w/ ad support) from Garmin. Once I compared the cost to ones w/o the traffic receiver & the subscription costs, it seemed like a good deal.

The link below has an extremely detailed review of the 765T if it's helpful to anyone.

Welcome and enjoy and ask lots of questions! An older teacher once told me..."The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked". Have fun!
