Bluetooth update

So my Garmin c580 began downloading and updating its firmware the other day and I was like ok? so it finished and then began a "bluetooth firmware update" but it sat at 0% for my entire 20-25 minute journey. I work on PCs for a living, so I know the danger in interrupting a firmware update so I left it turned on while I went to work. When I returned at lunch the screen was black so I hit the power button. Immediately the screen came to life but it was still sitting at 0%. So I held the power button down till the unit powered off. I quickly pressed the power button to make sure the thing hadn't fried itself. Much to my relief it returned with the familiar "warning screen" and continued on. I turned it back off and went back inside to finish my lunch. When I went to leave for the day after acquiring the satellites it began the bluetooth firmware update again. Once again it sat at 0% for the entire ride. Now each time I try to use it it does the same thing after it contacts the Sats. My question is this, Is there a way to turn off this auto-updating? I don't see anything in the manual and the website only describes updating firmware via the web.
I, too, would like more info
I, too, would like more info on this as this happens to my Nuvi 880 periodically. It shows Bluetooth Firmware Update and just stays at 0% for the longest time. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
