Is It Possible to See Most Recent Posting in a Thread First?

Group,
For very long threads, with hundreds of messages, it would be nice to be able to see the most recent message first. Is there a way of doing that? I note that each "page" of messages has starts with the first message of the thread, and then resumes the sequence of messages. What I would like to see is the first message, then followed by the most recent message of the thread. It that possible? Is it possible to provide a switch for the message sequence order? Right now when I see a "recent post" on a long thread, I click on the last page of the thread and then scroll to the bottom of the page.

Not Really
I don't believe that is possible with the current software.
However, you may want to try this method of reading new posts. On the right side of the screen, under your user name, click "unread posts". You will then get a screen showing all of the topics with new posts since your last visit. If you click on the title of the topic it will take you to the first unread post in that topic.
The other nice thing about using the "unread posts" feature is that you can filter out unwanted forums. So if you are not interested in the Ticket Cameras forum, you can hide it. After you've clicked on "unread posts", click "Forum Preferences (Favorite/Hide) at the top of the page.

Thanks... noted the unread posts but hadn't realized the potentials there.

Doesn't work for me, when the thread is more than 1 page long. If it's 2 or more, it goes to the first message. Very frustrating. I wish they were using VBulletin, or something similar, works a LOT better. I've got an Authentic (Paid for) copy here, I'm not using, and would donate to the site, if they'd switch
Mark all as Read
The first time you use the Unread Posts feature, you must mark all posts as Read. Then in subsequent selections of "Unread Posts" you should go to the unread posts, even for multi-screen threads.
Multiple Pages
On the second page and subsequent pages, the first message is repeated as a reference point. If you look at the second message you will find that it is a continuation from the previous page.

Comment
For multiple pages, I always have to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the last page number. Only then will the below quote be true.
Regarding viewing recent posts, I only read selected posts so the view recent posts button doesn't seem like it would be useful in my case.

I don't think so, but if
I don't think so, but if there is, that would be great.
I second...
I second that as well. I think that would be a great idea. Sure, there would be those to oppose, but I feel that it would be extremely informative in the long-run.
Track Your Posts
Somewhat related. I did see under My Account/Track tab you can see all your own posts which is helpful.

The software POI-Factory is using has an option for displaying comment controls. This would allow individual users to control how messages/comments are viewed -- newest first, threaded or flat list, and the total number of comments per page.

Is that option enabled? If so, how do you change it???

The webmaster must enable this feature. Once enabled, you'll see several drop-down boxes with various options for displaying comments and their sort order.

Tim,
I had the same problem viewing multi-page threads until I started using the Unread Posts button. Unread Posts allow you to Hide forums you are not interested in or set Favorite forums. The Unread Posts feature will take you to the end of a multi-page thread to show only the unread posts (once you mark all the forums as read initially. Look for a button to "Mark all forums as read" at the bottom the the Unread Posts screen.)
Hope that helps. Good luck.

For some weird reason, that doesn't work on "Recent Posts", which I find a much more useful approach to the forums. Clicking on the new posts only takes you to the first post on multi-page threads.
