Garmin 755T-Proximity Alerts

I recently installed the Offbeat Tourist Attractions database in my Garmin. I put the database file, .mp3 file, and icon in a folder and loaded it via the POI Loader.

The database seems to be in there in my Custom POI folder, but there is no option in settings for proximity alerts.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Names must match and setting proximity

Names of csv, bmp, and mp3 for a single POI list must match (except file extension). I messed that up at first when multiple bmp and mp3's were listed with csv's. Of course another list of POI's in same custom POI can have another name matching up its csv list with associated bmp and mp3.

The easiest way to set proximity is all POIs are a similar group is to use "Manual" mode of POI Loader to set speed (36 second distance at that speed) or a distance in feet (for example I set 7500' for rest areas).

Otherwise you can set proximity in filename or within the file. See http://brillharts.com/GarminAlerts/

Yes, in order to get alerts, you must SET alerts when you load the Custom POIs with POI Loader.

Thanks efflandt! I did give them all the same name. I will try using the manual mode and see what happens.

Thanks again for the tip!

Thanks Racer X. When I do go into Tools/Settings/ there is no icon or anything marked Proximity Alerts. I'll try doing it manually like said above.

Thanks again!

Thanks Motorcycle Mama! I'll try playing around with the POI Loader again and see where you can set the alerts.

Alerts Working-Thank You!

Thanks to everyone for helping me out!

Before I was just using the express installation. This time I tried it on manual and entered information in the Proximity Alerts dialog.

Now when I go to Tools/Settings I have a Proximity Points icon showing up.
