Question about gpx files for a nuvi

With alll the recent problems with the v4.10 update to my nuvi 750, i copied my gpx files from the unit to my computer in case i would ever have to reinstall all my "favorites" on a new unit. With that my question would be:For the past 6 months i have been saving all my daily work stops as favorites. My apprentice has been doing the same on his unit in another vehice going to different locations than i.Is there a way to combine his and my gpx files on one file?Drag his and mine to the computer and combine them as one file? Then reinstall them on our units or do you simply drag and drop them on one unit and they combine themselves? Thanks for your help..

Copy and Paste

What you can do is drag and drop one file on Mapsource, copy all the way points with (select all, copy), drag and drop the other favorites file on mapsource then paste the others there. Copy and save file as .gpx.

Or you can use one of the other editors that people describe on this site. Usually most people already have mapsource though.

Can also try...

If you just want to combine Favourites, with no editing - then you can let the Nüvi do it for you. Copy his CURRENT.GPX to your Nüvi and vice-versa. When they are rebooted, the new Favourites will be merged in.

(Note: on the 7xx series, you might need to rename CURRENT.GPX to something else (eg TEMP.gpx), to allow it to be read.)

GeePeeEx Editor has merge capabilities

I have used GeePeeEx Editor's "Merge" capability to do just exactly this. You can import multiple GPX files, edit the combined file and save it back.

Even easier, I have imported Favorites directly from my 350 and 760 into a single file, cleaned it up some and then saved it back to both devices. In this way I was able to pull "Where Am I" favorites from both devices. I added information to them like address and phone and added them to a master file. Then I could save the combined master file back to both devices.
