format translations...

I need some help...

And I apoligize if this has already been covered elsewhere...

I want to create a poi file for Nashville and send it to you.

I go to Google earth and get the grid points for the location, but it looks like this:
36.02.04.77 N, 86.58.22.42 W
Is this in lat/ lon or lon/lat format?
Do I need a converter or something???

What you have in your files look like this:
87.6481,41.90362, name...

Either I have too much info, or there is some cyopherring going on?????

Coordinate format for CSV

Garmin CSV files expect coordinates to be in decimal degrees format (as opposed to degrees, minutes, seconds).

You can change the format that Google Earth displays by going to Tools / Options and looking on the "View" tab for "Lat/lon". Change the setting to "Degrees" and it should work better for you.

Inside your CSV file, make sure to put longitide before latitude. (I think Google Earth shows them in the opposite order.) In the United States, the longitude values are negative and the latitude values are positive.
