Ok I purchased a c580 last week and I connected it with MSN direct I get full service. After I updated my maps from 2008 to 2009 my MSN direct service shows red bar only. Garmin told me it was a wire problem I wasnt convinced. So my dad bought the same exact model a day after me and I tested his. SAME EXACT PROBLEM. It happens after the update from 2008 to 2009. Any solution to this?
Maps should not affect MSN
The map updates are the maps only. I don't see how a map update could affect MSN. Have you reset your MSN account online? Have you reset the actual MSN receiver? My MSN stopped about a week after I got it and resetting the account and the receiver itself got it going again.
how do i do that?
I have tried reset button on antenna how do I reset the account?
MSN
I think my MSN signal strength has one red bar or something. I too have a "new" C580 and updated last week to the 2009 map but don't know if that is when the signal strength changed. However, I've been ignoring the MSN signal strength because at least Gas Prices have been updating.
Reactivate your MSN account

Sorry - I meant reactivate your account. Click the link below to MSN Support and re-enter your product key.

Update Worked
Not that this will really help you, but I just received my C580 and updated the maps to 2009 and MSN still works. When you go to the MSN screen in the menu, does it give you the options, or does it tell you that your account is not active?
MSN - Working
Checked again. Plugged in C580 into car port. Touched the MSN icon and somewhere there I saw one red bar out of three bars on the right-hand side of the screen. I left it plugged in for an hour or more and then a different screen (forget the exact screen) showed the GPS strength on the left top (five green bars) and the MSN strength had three green bars on the top right. Seems like everything is working.

MSN Update
Noticed yesterday that one mile from my house, the MSN reception was one single red bar. When at home, had the full three green bars.
