Mom & Pop Restaurants

I'm thinking of starting a POI file of Mom & Pop Restaurants. You know, those locally owned and operated places that serve really good local food. jessjpm has volunteered to help.

There are already POIs for local burger joints, hot dog stands, bbq places and submarine shops (possibly others). This would be casual restaurants not fitting into one of the other catagories.

What do ya'll think?

If you want to contribute your favorite locations, please post here. Please include the name, city, and co-ordinates, at least. Phone number would also be good.

Drive-Ins Dives and Diners

Wouldn't this be basically the same project as the Dive-Ins Dives and Diners project? Most M&Ps will fit in one of those categories.

the file quoted above is based off of a TV show and only has the locations that are featured on that program included.

I suppose this would be like Drive-ins and Diners that haven't been on the program. wink

I don't watch the show, so I don't know how strictly they adhere to that 'drive-ins and diners' definition - but it's not my intention to limit this POI file to those two categories. I'm thinking cafes and casual restaurants. Family friendly locally owned eating establishments.

Sounds like something I'd want on my GPS!

However, I've started working on an update of the "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives" TV show gpx (See: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/17389) and obviously a M&P poi should be it's own file. I would say that you could probably incorporate all the places in it for the larger file.

You see more Diners & Drive-Ins on the show, but they have had a number of Dives as well... Obviously it's about the food and atmosphere, not the building.

It'll take me several more days before I get the current update finished and with the new season starting at some point, it will continue to grow, so if you do want to include them, hold off a little.

I'm looking forward to your updated file. It's going to take me a while to get this ball rolling, anyway.

Thanks for offering to let me include your list.
