GPS is slow to update postion after installing 4.6

I just installed 4.6 on my Garmin 680. The GPS updates current position in large incremental steps instead of smoothly tracking my position. The step size is so large that at times I can be past an intersection while the GPS shows be still approaching it.

Anyone else experiencing this or know if I can get and reinstall version to 4.5.

Good Luck

I just had a eye opening experience today myself. I installed a software version 4.00 that was listed on the Garmin Webupdater for my Nuvi 260W. This was a Bad Mistake and now I no longer have a working GPS because of it. I spent most of my afternoon on the phone with Garmin trying to resolve this issue and in the process of there Software Support they managed to completely wipe out my operating system on the Nuvi 260W. Now I have to send the unit in for a new replacement which they are suppose to be sending me. I have been a GPS Owner for a very short time but I am learning fast to read these forums because Garmin has a definate Problem with there Software Updates. They were trying to roll my unit back to a previous update when the Nuvi was wiped out. I hope you have better luck then me but be prepaired for the worst just in case Good Luck!

Problem is with 3D mode

A little clarification after some testing. The problem is only when displaying the map in 3D mode. If I switch to North up and get the overhead view, the GPS position and actual position match correctly. So it appears the GPS is slow in calculating the 3D view.

Assuming it is the same 4.5 as is used for the 660, you can find it at http://gpsinformation.org/perry/nuvi/

Recent software update, touch-screen problems

This is about my Nuvi 360 which I recently updated to software level 4.70. My touchscreen lately keeps going out of calibration, esp on the alphabetic keyboard screens. This may have started since recent software update. I have recalibrated several times and it soon goes out of calibration and becomes difficult to find desired key or to backspace, etc.

What was your overriding reason for updating? If you can live without it, why not rollback to your old version at http://gpsinformation.org/perry/nuvi/ ?

Egads! More? Problems with

Egads! More? Problems with 4.60?
I dont use 3D views...
Two reasons, Its just too goofy looking for me.
Track up seems to offer more info, and it simply matches a 'traditional map'. But hey, its just a preference.

On the rare occasions I've used 3d out a curiosity, It always seemed to lag. I just figured it was the placement of the vehicle icons.

Now then, if 4.60 is goofin' up with 3d positioning, thats just another strike against it.

I'm having 'garbling' with 4.60 with bluetooth. (The caller's voice garbles after a few minutes of conversation.)

I gotta bite the bullet and roll it back to 4.50 where everything seemed fine....

Touchscreen Calibration

I emailed and then phoned Garmin support about my touchscreen calibration problem. They gave me an RMA number and told me to mail in my Nuvi 360 for no cost repair or replacement. Maybe a week later I had a replacement 360.

In subsequent emailing, they swore that downloading 4.70 couldn't have caused the calibration problem and in fact they were not aware of the problem (despite my mentioning this forum).

After receiving the new 360, I ran Webupdater and found software level 5.00 available and installed it. So far so good.

Sure glad I read this

I was in the process of loading the new lifetime traffic and it wanted to load the 4.6. ERRRRRRRRR wrong. Unplug 660 click ok a couple times until the additional upgrades show up and load only what I want.

Thanks POI Factory
