you may want to search ...

you may want to do a quick search (available above) ... I would guess that most issues you may be looking at have been addressed in the past.

New Messages

Well, this happens in Firefox, IE and Chrome. From the list of topics in a forum, if I click on the "new" messages, as long as the there is only one page of messages, the server will return the new messages, (they have New in the top right corner), and the new messages will display in the browser.

If I click on the "new" messages and there are more than one page of messages, the server will present the first page, first message, and you have to choose the last page, wait for it to load, then scroll to the bottom of the page for the new messages, and they aren't marked as new. So you have to read the dates and times and remember what time the last time you read the forum was to see a new message.

I see that as a either a bug or a failing in the software. Anyone else see this behavior? Or is it just me. BTW, this occurs on three different computers, 1 with XP and 2 with Vista. It also happens in Firefox on Ubuntu Linux.

New messages only on One Page Threads

It works that way for me also...

I agree, it would be a nice feature to display the new messages directly on a multi-page thread...

Bug

Jon says that it is a bug in the platform that we are using and a fix is not yet available. As a work around you may try using the unread post feature.

New messages only on One Page Threads

Unless you have marked different topice you don't want displayed al; you need to do to see all the new unread post is use the unread post link on the right side of the page. If you got to the current post link and there is more than one page it will take you to the top of each page and you need to scroll down. Miss POI can explaind the reason for the way the new threads post. OOps she beat me to it.

Miss POI

Thanks. I presume this is homebrew software?

I can live with it, I guess. The unread option gives me too many to wade through, as I don't read but two of the forums.

Use "Unread Posts" Feature

Unread posts is the way to go. Select that link and at the top of the new page you will see this:

Unread Forum Posts
Forum Preferences (Favorite / Hide)

Select Forum Preferences and it will allow you to hide the forums you don't want to monitor. So only the two forums you like will appear on the unread posts list.

The really nice thing about the unread posts feature is that it automatically takes you to the first unread post in the thread.

Thanks

I'll try that.
