You can check out the 2009 maps on Garmin's site. Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/5prtok

You can zoom in to your area and see if the changes have been included on the 2009 maps.

You won't know until you

You won't know until you test it, unfortunately. The GPS and mapping services try to stay on top of new subdivisions, but I don't think anyone but the manufacturers can tell you if they have your subdivision in their database now.

It's funny to see the nuvi try to "recalculate" when it doesn't have a road corresponding to the GPS database. Case in point.... a wildlife refuge that is west of a creek but has an entrance road of about 1.5 to 2 miles, with a major road to the east of the creek paralleling it. With the correct POI of the reserve entered, first the GPS wanted me to get on the east road... when I ignored that, and turned on the "non-existent" road, it started to recalculate, but had no roads to calculate.... so it just repeated its recalculating voice until I arrived at the destination. Once there however, the GPS drew a route line across the creek from the east road to the end point..... a line over a non-existent bridge.
