POI icons too small to see on Nuvi 880

Hi folks,
I don't know if there is a setup option I'm missing or if this is normal but my POI icons are too small to discern what they represent when the unit is mounted on my windshield and in many cases too small when I'm holding it 6" from my face. Additionally placing a pointer on them to find out what they are is an exacting process. Is this normal?

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Huh?
It doesn't matter how close you zoom in. The icons are always the exact same size at all zoom levels.
At least they are on every Garmin unit I have ever seen.
