How does Simulation work?

Yes, it will. At least on my 660 it does. What model do you have?

My Garmin is the Nuvi 260W.

Is it possible to sped up a simulated trip to a destination?

At least I've never found a way to do on my 660. If I want to pre-view a trip I am planning, I just look at the turn-by-turn directions. If I really want to simulate something like testing a POI alert, I just set a very short trip past the point, no more than a few miles.

I think I get your method. If you do the turn by turn, then you can do the entrei route to your destinmation in much less tha the driving time. Right?

The turn-by-turn directions just give you the highlights of your trip, but at least you can get an idea how the Garmin is going to route you.

Using simulation is just not practical in real time for an 8 hour trip.

How do you see the turn by turn directions on the 660

First, select a destination - Where To, select an address or POI location, and press GO! Then go to View Map and press anywhere in the green information bar at the top of the screen. That will bring up the turn-by-turn directions and you can scroll through them using the up and down arrows.
