Safety Cameras? (Cameras that tell you your speed)

What category do cameras that read your speed and display it to you go into? They don't take pictures, as far as I know. Though they might be keeping records for future applications (a camera, or a speed bump).

I woild probably put it

I woild probably put it under somthing like radar zones or speed zones. Somthing to that affect

Safety cameras

These aren't really cameras, so "safety camera" may be a misnomer. Safety monitor? I personally don't feel the need to track these on GPS, as they are not used directly to hand out traffic tickets in an automated fashion. Also, they tend to get moved frequently, so GPS data on them would also be out-of-date quickly.

Police departments use these for two purposes, in my experience. One purpose, particularly such as at the beginning of a highway construction project where there's been a dramatic drop in speed limit, is to get people to slow down. The second, particularly on local streets, as our local police department has said, is to check for the need to enforce speed on a particular stretch of street. If the data collected by the safety monitor says X% of drivers speed past these things, they pull them off the street a week later and come back and start handing out tickets.

Mobile units

These seem simple radar (reflection) type devices with large display. Mostly are mobile units in my area and change locations in a few days.
