Will Nuvi 205W Accept Routes From MapSource?

Hi all,

I had a Nuvi 200W, and got rid of it for a 205W, which is MUCH better in terms of satellite fix. It's almost instantaneous as opposed to waiting up to 3 minutes with the 200W.

I'm wondering if the 205W will accept routes from MapSource? The 200W apparently did NOT accept routes, from what I've been told. Also, I am assuming I need a new version of Mapsource 2009 (I only have Mapsource 2008 ) since I have the 2009 maps on the 205W? Thanks!

Sorry, no routes on 205W

and click on the "Specs" tab.

Not sure if you need to update Mapsource, or if the first answer negates your desire to use Mapsource, but you can get the upgrade here:

Thanks for the quick answer!

Thanks for the quick answer! Mapsource will still be useful for me to add fake POI's to get the Garmin to follow a specific route for long road trips.

If you haven't found this

If you haven't found this site yet, check it out:

Lots of great tips there, and specifically, this one:

http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/page3.htm#via

Which has some ways to get non-routing Garmins to route (sort of). That site is maintained by Gary Heyman, who is a contributor here.

Call Garmin

Call Garmin and tell them you need Mapsource for backing up and viewing data. They will probably send you the DVD for free.
