Your opinion is needed (damaged cameras)

I have been working hard to make sure that the redlight and speed camera files are accurate.

I have been removing locations that are reported as having damaged or destroyed equipment.

I have had someone bring it to my attention that these locations will probably be fixed and back up and running.

So here is my question to the community, should the file include all red light camera intersections regardless of whether the equipment is working?

I would not want anyone caught off guard by a camera that is fixed back up and not reported to me.

Most of these locations are in the New York Metro area.

Let me know what you think...

Thanks,

Miss POI

I vote to keep them.

Another benefit of the camera file is that photo-enforced intersections are statistically more dangerous, due to the number of red-light runners, so it's still a good idea to get a warning.

Krieger.

Please

keep them all listed. Thanks!

Gotta agree with everyone -

Gotta agree with everyone - if the equipment's there, it's never far from being fixed/activated, and worth the warning!

Please keep them all listed.

Camera Equipment

Hi,

I hope you decide to leave them in the Red Light Camera POI database.

include all

I think you should include all locations regardless if they are operational or not. It can't hurt!

keep'em

We had a couple vandalized around here last year and they were back up and running in a couple of weeks.

i agree

we should include them all

Opinion

I would definately keep them in. They will not be inactive for too long

I think false positives are

I think false positives are better than false negatives. In addition, I think for California you are going to get a number of POI for redlights or speed traps/radar spots that have no equipment there, just signs, as I'm pretty sure California law states that all major entrances to a city that uses such devices must have a sign prominently posted that they use such monitoring devices.

Leave them in the file.

Leave them in the file. Better safe than sorry

I think

that was a great idea! Thanks Miss POI smile

I would just leave them in the file. Better to be warned. If you want you could add "Possibly Damaged" to the camera disciption

Yes, leave them in

Leaving them in eliminates the updating when they are fixed and the time lag of the repair to reporting to getting the location back in the file.

Appears to be unanimous

1) better safe than sorry
2) Broken cameras will be fixed ~ income needed
3) Way too much for you to have to do.

I'd keep them in but maybe get rid of the chime? I don't know how easily it is to turn on the chime later on when they are operational... actually, I don't know how you can even tell when it becomes operational or not unless you have an insider giving you free tips.

Cameras

Keep em, ya never know.

include them all, who knows

include them all, who knows when they might add something new in replacement

I am all for keeping all

I am all for keeping all cameras in the file. I rather think one was there that wasn't than vice versa. Thanks for asking
