Does this site support sharing .gpx files? I would like to convert some .csv to .gpx extended for Garmin

Would like to share some poi's for garmins that include dialable phone numbers. Is this permitted here?

thanks,
Jamos

I would need to write some code to convert .csv files..was thinking maybe a macro in vbasic to work with excel. as far as the format already have that figured out. It is shown in this post here
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/1667

for now it's a manual edit in wordpad razz

looks like I could not upload them here anyways as the uploader only accepts .csv

On another note..

gpx files shared here would have a preview built in because they are xml format..ie clicking on the link such as this one
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/20/798737/test.gpx
would show you the code then you just click the view source menu and save to disk if you want it, or just right click the link and use save target as to download it immediatly. wink

sorry links seem to be disabled on this forum but you can cut and paste the url above to see what I mean.

Uploading GPX

I'm working on tweaking the uploader to allow GPX.

Using .gpx files

This question is premature, however when you do list .gpx files, what will happen when you load them into a c530 that doesn't have bluetooth or .mp3. Will it ignore the data that it cannot use? Do we need to have a .gpx file and a .csv file for the same topic?

Too many fileses

I think there needs to be some sort of consortium to set a standard for GPS files. We have .csv, .gpx, .gdb, .itn ... and there are more that I didn't mention.

Mapsource and GPX

I also use gpx files for POI's because it's just easier to edit or add information in Mapsource.

JM, did you ever receive my email about the .gpx POI's?

gpx extended files will work with garmins that use the loader

This would work with any Garmin that can use the Beta version of POI Loader. The address and phone numbers will load (just cannot call if the unit does not have bluetooth).

As for other gps's that would depend on if they support the new extender format. The example I have shown uses garmins library which from what I know conforms with the latest gpx standard (ie v3)

GPX on c530

Thanks jamos
Look forward to the new files.
