Whats Better CSV or GPX for loading with proximity data

using the great facilities at http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ to convert the CSV files to GPX then editing them in mapsource adding proximity data seems straight forward. when loading into nuvi with POIloader run it automaticly or is the straight up csv file run manually and adding proximity alerts?

so far neither seem to provide me with alerts for starbucks, and I have yet to do an interstate run where reststop would be.

I just plain quit trying to get my 200W to use a WAV file to announce the proximity
either way I have 13900 POIs loaded and the unit knows where they are just will mot beep on approch

"What's better CSV or GPX for loading with Proximity Data"

The answer would have to be that GPX is 'better', because you can specify your desired Proximity distance and/or Speed (on a per-POI basis), without having to rely on defaults.

However - that doesn't actually seem to be your problem...

Can you see the associated Proximity information, when you view the POIs on your Nüvi?

Where abouts are the alerts in relation to the road - and your route?

You Don't have to travel to the POI to test

You can simulate a route past a point. See http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/page3.htm#locat...

Yes, this time it worked

Yes, this time it worked sorta.. no icon but I did get a notice, after using GPX file and setting all to 1.5 mile proximity
still I would like to get the sound to work< I conveted the MP# to WAV reformated to the right style of WAV and still no joy.. all files have the same file name

What is the default distance for alerts from csv files?

There's no default distance for regular Custom POIs as they do not alert by default. If you want an alert, you must set an alert.

No, you can't speed it up, but the key is to set your location just outside the proximity distance, so the simulation only needs to take you a very short distance.
