Possible to display near by POI when viewing maps?

Hello all,

The other day when I travel to Atlanta using my Garmin Nuvi 650. It was great. However, when I was just using "View Map" feature only (not going to a place), I saw my car icon on the screen but would like to see what near by my location such as restaurants, banks, museums... I know that I can go to places by selecting each category but I do not want to browse each category at a time. I'd like to know if it's possible for Garmin to just simply display all the POIs near where I'm at.

Thanks...

You have to zoom in

You have to zoom in to around the 200 or 300 ft map scale in order to see the POI's around you.

100 yards is way to close to be useful with Stock POI's

And that is one of Garmin's weakest features, If you have to be zoomed in to 100 yards, there is a good chance your going to pass it anyway. I always like to see the poi's as I approach from a reasonable distance.

If I understand your question correctly, you would like to see the "factory installed" icons/places.

** Please stop and park the car in a safe place before using this method. This is not intended to be used while driving **

You will be able to see these in the ►"where to" ►"browse map" mode. You will also need to be zoomed in to see the icons.

As you've discovered you won't be able to "see" these while in navigation mode while on a route or not.

Hope this helps
