c530 POI issues?

Is anyone else having problems getting custom POI's to display on their Garmin c530? I've loaded the latest (02/07) Software version 5.20.

POI loader seems to be happy with my .csv files and uploads fine. The poi.gpi file shows up fine in the POI directory. It's just that when you select "Extras" the "Custom POI" screen that comes up is blank.

I've created test csv files with one or two locations with the "name" field only.

What makes me wonder is that when I try a Mac and use Simon Slavins MacGarmin utility, which accepts my csv files fine, creates the .gsx & .gpi files no problem - the end result is exactly the same - no locations listed. As others have noted, the c530 is not listed on the Garmin poiloader compatability list. Is there an issue? Any suggestions?

No problem here

I have a c530 and do not have the problem you experience. POI's load and are visible. I have them on both the internal drive of the unit and on SD card (different files). I have used both POI-loader and the beta POI-Loader (windows XP). I have used it with the previous and updated versions of the Garmin software.

Thanks

Appreciate your instant response - Curious where the beta loader is available

Works way better than the previous version.
.

No luck

Thanks for the link. This time I downloaded one of the free csv files off this site and used the beta to delete my previous poi file and upload the sample. Same result. Custom POI screen comes up with no listings. I suspect something is corupt in my Garmin software. Unit works perfectly otherwise...

re: no luck

Suggest you contact Garmin directly.

Just a "cover all" question: When you select Extras, you see the Custom POI entry. When you select that entry, is that where you get the blank screen?

RE: POI support for the c530

I have uploaded POI's sucessfully with the c530 using the BETA poi loader software located here http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1673 . I am sure you need at minimum in your .csv file is longitude, Lattitude, Name, Address. Make sure to enclose your name and address with " marks.

Just double checking. Are

Just double checking.

Are you selecting "Where to?" then "Extras" then "Custom POIs"?
.

Always good to "double check"...

Feel like an idiot - everything was working perfectly all along. Didn't realize the "Custom POIs" with nothing after it that showed up was a menu selection. Selected it and all is well. In this case all 6000 or so FM stations that were in the test file I used.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'm still learning. Very impressed with the 530 so far and also the prompt suggestions here. Thanks!

Glad you got it working..

I wouldnt call you a idiot though, garmins menus are not very intuitive.

Excellent!! Glad you got it

Excellent!! Glad you got it working.

And, no, you are definitely not an idiot. I almost didn't post my double-checking post in case it seemed like I was insulting you, but finding the Custom POI's is not intuitive at first, it's always good to check.

Same problem ...

dvanhooft: Remember what they said in school? "The only stupid question is the one never asked," and, "Somebody else probably has the same question but hasn't asked it yet!"

I got my c530 yesterday, and I was also wondering why I didn't see the POI's I'd loaded. DUH!
