SD Card won't work in TOMTOM ONE XL-S

I have some POIs and a map I purchased from TT loaded on a 1 Gb SD Card. When I insert the SD in my TT the screen displays an ARROW coming out of the TT SD SLOT and a RED 'X' crossed out on the SD CARD. My TT works fine once I remove the SD Card. The manual or the TT Support pages don't explain this or how to correct it.

Can someone assist me with this? Thank You ALL.

I'll try

If I'm not mistaken your TTOne won't work with the card inserted UNLESS the OS is installed on the card as well. I would swap the 1gb for a 2gb card, download the OS from your TTOne to the SD card and then load the new map and POI's - you should be good to go!

This will serve two purposes, it will allow you to save/use more POI's and a different map, and it can be used as a back-up should your One's internal memory crap out.

Hope this helps! smile

SD Card

Mike, Thank You! Please bare with me. I just want to be sure about what I am doing before attempting this.

When I download the OS from my TTOne to a new 2 GIG SD card will I actually REMOVE the OS and current maps from my internal memory or will I just be copying the memory to the new card? It sounds like I will taking all of my internal memory out, installing it on the new 2 GIG card along with my additional map purchase and new POIs and operating the TTOne from the 2 GIG card instead of the internal memory?

Hope I asked that question so it's understandable. Sorry for any confusion on my part. redface

No problem

What I should've said was COPY the info from your One onto your PC. Once you've done that, then you can copy the info onto your SD card from there.

You should do a backup using TomTom Home first. This will allow you to keep ALL files on your TomTom in one location (folder) on your PC. If you haven't already downloaded Home then you should asap - go to www.tomtom.com for further info. Also, you should be backing up your TT (using Home) monthly just in case! smile

Hope that clears it up! wink

Thanks!

I have TTHome already downloaded and have a back-up folder. Just wanted to be sure I was doing this correctly. THANKS AGAIN!

Similar Problem with 930

I have a similar problem with my 930. The 930 recognizes the card. When I connect it to my computer, sometimes, the computer does not recognize the card.

How do I recognize the OS file? In the folder that says "Program" there is only a small "Application.tlv" file.
