Syncing multiple Nuvi 660's

I've spent a lot of time entering locations into my 660's "favorites" file. How can I set up another 660 so that its "favorites" file displays the same information, without doing it manually? Will simply copying the contents of the POI folder from the first, then pasting into the POI folder of the second do the trick?

current.gpx

I've attached a link to another post that gives the location of the current.gpx file (which is where favorites are stored).

I don't have first hand experience with moving this file to a different unit, so perhaps someone else can share their results.

Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the information. I'd be interested in this too because my girlfriend bought the 350 and maybe I can share my favorites with her...

"Favorites"

Thanks, JM, I'll take a look.

Syncing multiple Nuvi 660's

Earlier, "JM" provided me with information on the file location of my "favorite" list. He was absolutely correct. Today, I connected a second 660 to the computer, navigated to Garmin, gpx. When I located the file named "current.gpx", I renamed it "current.old". I had already copied "current.gpx" from my first 660 and placed it in a temp folder. Copying this file (current.gpx) to the second 660's "gpx" folder worked perfectly. Both units now contain the same data. Thanks again, JM for your help.

As a secondary note, out of the box, my 660 had about 1.3 gigs worth of data on its internal memory. By deleting all the help files and voice files, except those in english, and deleting the sample JPG's and MP3's, a lot of extra space can be recovered.

Nother Way

If you have Mapsource loaded on your computer, you can also load all the waypoints (destinations/favorites) to mapsource from the first device. You can then download all of the same waypoints to the second device.

Favorites

The Nuvi 350 will accept the .gpx file from the Nuvi 660. The phone numbers are not displayed on the Nuvi 350.

Other observations:
The favorites appear to be memory cached and rewritten at shutdown. Taking advantage of this, I was able to merge favorites from multiple devices simply by 'replacing' the gpx file. At shutdown and restart, the device showed the combined/merged 'favorites'.

Note: The favorites are merged as separate items if they have different names. If the names are similar but the coordinates differ, the items are stored individually with a number appended to the name( 1..2..3..etc).
