Chit Chat Thread for the week of July 28th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Go Rays, Free Pizza, Brett Favre & Criss Angel

Its a wacky day in the Tampa Bay area:

1. The Rays take a 2 game lead in the AL East and this guy from Denver, of all places, offers free pizza to the world if the Rays win the World Series.

arrow http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/rays/article747409.e...

2. The Bucs already have the salary cap space to deal for Favre. But now, Dallas is interested in backup QB Chris Simms. If they reach a deal, the Bucs will have even more money to throw at Favre and the Packers.

3. Criss Angel is set to try and escape the implosion of the Spyglass Resort Hotel on Clearwater Beach tonight at 10 pm.

I guess my problem is I am enjoying being as old as I am. I am having the time of my life. It doesn't bother me to be and "O'l Timer" with the memories I have.

My passport is like a world tour guide. Been completely around the world 5 times. And untold half way arounds from both directions.

Now a days I don't travel overseas at all but I take the train and visit Canada and the USA from coast to coast and border to border.

I can do this now because I am OLDER and have the time.

I have just removed your files from the moderation queue and have attached your contributor badge to your profile;) Great job on those files, they are a fantastic addition to the site.

Thank you

Thanks Miss POI. I really enjoyed working on them. I plan on doing some updates to them in the future, but I think I need to relax for a few and figure out what else to work on.

Thanks again.

Rumor has it he's coming here to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Its been in the news since last week. surprised

As long as it isn't Minnesota or Chicago, I don't care where he goes. I actually grew up in the Green bay area (De Pere to be exact), and I remember the packer players riding my bike during summer camp.

Long Distance Runners from an old story

Hey babago is that the beginning of the Olympics mode or another philosphical mode??

There was a story called "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" way way back, and I adopted the term to mean anyone who hangs in there regardless.

To update it to a more recent generation, I'd say "Running On Empty" with these gas prices.

Olympics mode? Well, my hubby tells me that China is trying to overnight rid themselves of air pollution, and it ain't working. I wonder what they expected to do the trick.

Joe Montana

dminz wrote:

Same thing happened to Joe Montana who went to KC for a year or two at the end. Or am I imagining that? I suppose the money is hard to refuse.

Joe left the 49er's and played for KC for a couple of years. I think that the 49er's resigned him just long enough so he could retire from their team after that.

Emmitt Smith did the same with the Cowboys. Rather than retire he played for Phoenix another year or 2 and then signed a contract with the Cowboys so he could retire as a Cowboy during training camp.

I feel so young on this thread! I was fertilized in '56... the youngest of 3.

One of my hobbies while working on the road is collecting CD's at pawn shops. I have loads of jazz, blues, 50's & 60's rock music. I have every single song that ever charted from '55 to '79.

If you thought music died with disco, they dug it up and stomped on it with punk and then put it out of its misery again with rap music.

Ain't nothin' like riding down the Interstate with a little Beach Boys blaring from the speakers!

Close Scare

4 days ago I dropped my nuvi 360 on the floor and it slide across the room. I mean a hard tile floor. I picked it up figuring that's the end of that. I turned it on and it work. I went to use it yesterday and it would not find or play my mp3s. I was already making plans to buy a 700 series when I reloaded all the files from Garmins updater site and low and behold it worked. I now call my nuvi Timex because it took a licking and it kept on working. grin

Bacardi to close Bahamas Factory

Bacardi to close Bahamas Factory next year! I recently came back from my 'Time Share' vacation in Nassau. The talk-of-the-town was the closing of Bacardi's long time and first distillery outside of Cuba. Now we'll all have to drink the clorine-tasting stuff from Puerto Rico. Yuck! Can you really have a party, without Bacardi? razz
