POI's not Alerting on my 680 ??

Hi,
I loaded quite a few POI's on my 660 and they work just fine. I loaded the same list on my 680, and it does not alert to any. I can be right on the parking lot and I have it set to alert me within 15000 feet. Is there any settings I am overlooking? Thanks for any suggestions.
Mark

Proximity alerts only trigger if you are on the same street as the POI and heading toward it. Thus, if you were in a parking lot far enough from the street to not snap the vehicle to the street, OR heading away from the POI, it would not trigger.

680 not alerting to POI's

On my 660, they will alert a few miles away (set at 15000). seem to alert whenever I am within that range, on any street in the area. For example, if I have alerts for FLYING J TRAVEL CENTERS, I can drive right up to the door and never get an alert on the 680. I have the Custom POI's selected ON under my PROXIMITY ALERTS.

660 VS 680

If you do a search for "TourGuide", you will find much discussion of using a tourguide to get radial alerts instead of the normal along-the-route alerts. You can get alerts on two different streets if you put the POI at the intersection of the two streets (a la redlights). Run a simulation and verify for yourself.

The other thing you can do to eliminate any variables would be to copy the POI.gpi file from the 660 over to the 680.
