760 FM trans - Solution ??

get into the "special" system info section - hold the battery power symbol, then go to the audio output test page.

Set the output to FM and additional choices appear. Pick FM power, and then you can increase the value to 115db. This greatly increased my FM transmitter power, but I have not experimented enough to tell if it reverts back to the lower initial value.

Try and let us know you results. Hopefully this is a viable solution.

Doubt It

FM transmitter output is not measured in decibels, but watts. Also, it would be illegal in the US to allow such adjustment above the maximum allowed (1/2 watt, I believe). I am guessing that you are adjusting the maximum output of your speakers only.

Test Page

On my 750, this appears to be a test/diagnostic page. The setting reverted back to the original after powering off and on.

.

This has been discussed before and there appears to be no user selectable adjustment for the power output of the FM transmitter. What Bstpm stated is what I and others found to be the case.

Given the limited power of the FM transmitter, that's one of the reasons I went with the Sony cassette adapter.

As I don't have my 760 in front of me....

If it does increase the FM transmitter power, can you change the setting here for the duration of power-on use? I'd be willing to go into this config screen on every appropriate power-on to change this setting if it would stay on for duration of use.

Read This

There may be some useful information in this thread. Lots of links and alternate solutions as well as discussing the FM power setting in the diagnostic menu.

The Best Solution

My solution was to Buy a new car that has the Aux input. I love my 660 hard wired into my Stereo in my New VW. I can adjust the voice to 85% of the MP3 volume so it is not a blare..But it is perfectly clear. I have not got to try the Bluetooth with the Stereo yet...More to follow.
there are many after market Aux input adapters for Stereos..also

AUX is the best way to go

The GPS becomes a fairly central device, controlling and coordinating music and navigation prompts. And the nav voice sounds sooooo much better coming from the stereo system.

It appears to reset the FM Power setting to the default when you exit the diagnostic screens and return to the Main Menu.

You could always look into getting a newer radio for your car. An AM/FM/CD/MP3/AUX car stereo can be had for $79. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8679744&type=p...
There's more than one way to look at getting an AUX solution.

BlueTooth thru FM radio is not private communication, right?

I read this in the 880 owners manual, I think. That you can unpair your cellphone from the Garmin when a call comes in to maintain a private conversation. It is my understanding that it sends the talk through the radio to nearby radios if in the handsfree mode.
