Electroniccult.com

Has anyone bought anything from this dealer? They're located in West Palm Beach, FL, and they appear to have incredibly low proces on Garmin GPSr's. I'm looking at a Zumo 550 and they have it for less than $490 new and sealed in the box. Supposedly has all the stuff all the other online vendors offer.

If you've had any experience with this outfit, I'd really appreciate your comments.

Thanks.

No, I havent't heard of them. But I recently bought a few things from www.erwincomputer.com that were quite low in my comparison shopping on Amazon.com

However, I just compared Erwincomputer's price for the Zumo 550 to Electronnicult's. Erwin was $629 today so your site looks cheap by comparison.

If I were you, though, I'd shop around just a bit more. (REASON: I bought my Garmin Gpsmap 60csx at Erwin for $279 with free shipping in mid-June and it's showing on Electronnicult today for $319 discounted.)

Have you tried going to

Have you tried going to their site? It's not there!! Unless you made a typo. If it's to good to be true, it isn't! Also, Garmin is strict about their warranties. If you do not buy from an authorized dealer, they will not honor the warranty. So I have heard.

I would go to pricegrabber.com and compare prices.

Here's the site, correctly spelled. And here's a link to the page with the Zumo 550 for $422!

Supposedly they are an authorized Garmin seller, but I've dropped an email to a friend that works at Garmin to confirm this.

Be Careful

I've never dealt with this site, but if you do a google search you will find people who have posted problems. From what I briefly read, the site is sketchy.

Edit - here's a link to a yahoo thread about this site. If what these people say are true, this site is definitely a scam. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080622214912AA...

P.S. - if you still insist on buying from them, I'll sell you the Zumo for $400. Just send me small unmarked bills and when I receive payment I'll send the Zumo. Trust me!!!

New Or Refurbished

That price is pretty out of line with other online retailers (like $200 out of line), I suggest you email them and find out if the unit is new or refurbished

They are outta here!

Based on information from the Florida Better Business Bureau, Google search (thanks for the suggestion) and other information, I've pulled these shysters off my list. DON"T DEAL WITH THEM!

Thanks to all for your replies.

Isn't the POI-Factory a great tool!!

Here's the correct site http://www.erwincomputers.com/

Sorry 'bout that! I typed in the URL by memory instead of copying it from the address bar like I usually do. Serves me right. Good catch!

About the warranty--it was a brand new Garmin in the box with all documentation and accessories. I registered it online with Garmin without a hitch. I don't think there's a problem.

Here is the link to the Florida BBB report for this company. Doesn't seem to have any local complaints. However on one of the Yahoo complaint sites, someone posted that it was actually a pizza store.

Do not deal with this company...but who do you trust?

The Florida BBB gave the company a C rating and will probably keep an eye on them. The BBB opened a file on them a month ago. Obviously, this company is not a member of the BBB. All reports from Google and Yahoo are VERY negative. Garmin has added this compnay to their DO NOT USE list.

As far as I'm concerned, this company is a scam and that should end any further discussion about them.

So here's another question. If you are going to buy something online, what do you do to check out the seller before you buy? Should be an interesting thread...

Local Dealers

I perfer to purchase electronics local. This way I know what I get and can always confront them.
