nuvi760 mp3 & jpeg file

When I load my sd card with my mp3 files it also put's jpeg photos in the photo viewer on my Nuvi. I guess it is picking the information off the mp3 file.
Is there any way to make the computer show these files,
when you look at the mp3 file?

.

You need to use a software program on your computer to properly tag your MP3 files.

Media Monkey, iTunes, etc. will work.

MP3 Player Will Show Album Art

As MM said, if you properly tag your MP3s they will show the album art in the media player.

Here are some screenshots of the player with album art.

Thanks for the info I do have MP3 software. I have cleared a few of them up but still having trouble with some.

They do not show up in the tag file but are still showing in the photo viewer. But not in the art window on the 760 MP3 player.

You just answered your question. The album cover will not show if the picture is not included in the tag. What you see in the photo viewer is the actual jpeg file located somewhere in one of your folders. You need to use a tag editor software to locate the picture and save it within the mp3 file as a tag.

I did use a tag editor to

I did use a tag editor to check the MP3 file and removed them. When I check the MP3 file tag they are not there. I checked all the songs for three artist with the tag editor and did not find any jpeg file in tag and they still show on the photo viewer.

The jpegs are in your mp3 folder

I had the same thing; your jpegs are stored in your mp3 folders on your computer and got copied to your mp3 folders on the GPS. At startup, the GPS scans ALL folders for photos and the photo viewer will show them. If you do a search for *.jpg, you will find them all and can delete them easily.

Is it your goal to eliminate the album art from showing in the mp3 player? That is the result of removing them from the ID3 Tags. The ID3 Tags have no relevance to whether the jpg viewer picks them up -- it sees all jpg's on the unit and displays them.

Previous references to tags were encouraging you to fill the tags in properly so that the album art would display in the mp3 player, not to remove the tags. If you are trying to save space on the unit, I understand your actions.

That is exactly what I am

That is exactly what I am trying to do. But for some reason when I open the tag, the jpg picture does not show up and when I load onto sd car and put in GPS the photo's are there.

Did search on jpg files but none of the picture that are on the GPS photo viewer showed up.

Lets Start from Step 1

I'd like to help but first I want to make sure what you are trying to accomplish.

Are you trying to delete all JPG images from your songs and Garmin so that there are no JPG images at all?

Or do you want JPG images to appear on the MP3 player when you play a song, but don't want the JPG images to appear on the Picture Viewer?

Once the above is confirmed, we can proceed to step 2 to solve your problem.

Searched Where?

Did you search on BOTH "drives"? The GPS and the card show up as separate drives in Explorer or My Computer. Make sure your settings are to show hidden files -- can't imagine why they would be hidden, but if the photo viewer sees them, they are there.

You aren't using a Mac are you?

Yeah, if the actual JPG files are located on the unit or the SD card, delete those files. If you are using a Mac and deleted the files without emptying the trash before you disconnected, then they went into a hidden trashes folder.

Then to tag the songs, put the songs on the SD card and use Media Monkey to tag them while they are on the card.

Yes they show up as

Yes they show up as different drives.
The settings are to show hidden files.
Formated sd card to make sure it was blank.
If I take the SD card out GPS it does not show photos.
Not a MAC

Step 2

Ok, so you want to delete all JPEG files. Since we know the JPEG files are on the SD card, we just have to search the card and delete the appropriate files.

You said you searched for JPG files and found none. Did you also search for JPEG and JPE files? These are also jpeg file extensions.

Open the SD card in My Computer and perform a search on the SD card drive. You are going to search for all files and folders. Under Advanced options, make sure "Search Hidden Files and Folders" is checked, and make sure "Search Subfolders" is checked. Under the search criteria ("All or part of file name"), enter *.jp*
Run the search. Any files you find should be jpeg files and can be deleted.

Did all the above still

Did all the above still showing photos on unit.

Driving me nuts!

Think Happy Thoughts!

Never fear, we can figure this out. Any chance you have your own website or file sharing service so you can upload your entire SD card contents and I can take a look at the files?

Another option which is a little more time consuming is you could load a trial version of GoToMyPC on your computer and I could actually view what you see on your computer. Kinda like a remote IT help session.

The jpeg files have to be somewhere on your SD card or Garmin unit!!

Are you using windows?

Driving me nuts!

If so open the folder with your mp3 files, click on tools at the top of the folder window, then select tools, then folder options, next click on view, scroll down to "Hide protected operating system files (recommended), uncheck the box. Select yes to the window that opens, click on apply... Look there is the album art... shock
