POI Phone #s

I have created a POI file using Excel and saved it as aCSV file. In Field 4 I have put address and phone number. I would like the number to be dialable while having it and the address display on my GPSr screen (SP c550). I assume the csv file needs to be converted to GPX. Can someone walk me through the csv file arrangement and the conversion?

Try the following link http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert
and list the description fields on top of the data separated by commas.

.

Also, check out GeePeeEx Editor to convert them to the proper format to make them dialable.

Hi zuma314,

There are many ways to skin a cat (just a figure of speech)...

I create my .csv file (with name, address and phone number) and upload it to my Nüvi 670. Then, I go to "Where To -> Extras -> Custom POI and select the .csv file I just created. Then I select one of the points-of-interest, within that file, and save it as a "Favorite"

Then I go to Where To -> Favorites and select the point-of-interest, I just saved as a Favorite. Although the address information isn't saved when you save it as a Favorite, you can edit the name of the Favorite and "add" a phone number and it will be dialable from that saved Favorite.

Not an ideal solution, but at least you'll have a dialable phone number, for that location.

GeePeeEx Editor is very easy

You just load them into GeePeeEx Editor. It automatically recognizes phone numbers in your CSV and copies them to the Phone field. Save to GPX and you're done. The phone numbers will be dialable.

Of course, you could copy/paste your address to the proper address fields for nicer display formatting if you choose. GeePeeEx Editor will import the whole address field from your CSV file and put it in the Address field in the GPX.

Hi johnc,

I'm a Mac user and don't have the ability to use the (PC only) GeePeeEx Editor. I should have mentioned that in my post.
