Setting Manual POI Alerts?

I have my POIs setup in Folders like "Fast Food","Attractions","Rest Areas"..etc. I have set Manual alerts for each POI in each Folder. I just updated my "McDonalds and "Starbucks" with the new POI updates listed on this site. When I went to upload these new ones into my Garmin I had to Manually set "All" the Alerts for All my POIs not just the new updated ones. Is there a way to save your Alert Settings for a POI so you don't have to type in Distance each time for each POI even the non updated ones?

Thanks

I have not found a way

I have not found a way on the units I own. Each time I load new POIs using Garmin's POI Loader I have to put in Proximity alert distances in for each POI file I set distances for- new & old.
Some files can have speed proximity alerts built into the POI title.

Thanks for reply. I did notice 1 or 2 POIs I had did have Alert "Built in". I was wondering if I could use a CSV editor and add the Alert distance I wanted in the File itself. If so how/where is this info added to a .csv file?

Go to following

Go to following link and/or just do a "Search" for POI alerts. Also read the faqs - a wealth of info on this subject.

Distance and Speed?

Thanks for the link about POIs. I noticed when talking about Alerts it mentioned that a Speed also had to be set with a Distance. So if I am Manually loading POIs and I want Alerts for a certain POI I have to add "both" Distance I want for Alert and a Speed?

The only POIs I know of

The only POIs I know of that use both speed/distance might be the speed cameras and Speed Trap files. I'm sure other users have different ideas !
Normal POIs like restaurants, Rest Areas etc really only need the distance proximity alert set - that's IMHO.

You may consider this option from POILoader help.

If the file name contains "redlight", POI Loader assumes all records in the file have proximity alerts with a distance of 400m/0.25 miles.

If a file contains "GATSO," "mobile," "SPECS," "safety," "speed," or "camera," but does not have a speed, POI Loader uses a default alert speed of 0, which means you will always be alerted. You can override this default value by entering the speed in Manual mode.

You can also enter speeds for each POI individually by adding the @ symbol and a number after the name of the POI. For example, a Custom POI named "Ridgeview@25" would create a POI named "Ridgeview" with a 25 mph speed alert.

Thanks for the info Charlie. This will come in handy as I go about setting up some personal POI files.
