Nuvi startup mode

I recently upgraded from a garmin Quest to an nuvi 650. I liked how the quest would start and go into map mode automatically. The nuvi, on the other hand, shows the menu with options. I couldn't find a way to change this behavior in the manual.
Does anyone know if this can be changed or is that just the way it works?

AFAIK (as far as I know) that's just the way it works...

I don't know if the 6xx series does this, but the 7xx series will change over to the map mode once you start driving. It seems to be tied to some time/speed setting that I haven't figured out yet. Other than that, I think you'll have to live with this limitation.
