Dead Zones

Have noticed that when I have on destination in My Favorites that takes FOREVER to plot a route to OR from, regardless of route start or destination. Location is in Playa Del Rey, California, an area that should be well-mapped with no shortage of satellites. Have tried re-entering the city as Los Angeles with the same zip code but that does not seem to help.

Are there "dead zones" that are slow to map or is there another way to enter the location information (lat/long?).

Not a real problem, but kind of annoying.

I guess to get help, we need to know what GPSr you have so the right person can step forward with your request.

Is it just one favorite?

Is it just one location in Playa Del Rey or all of your favorites that take a long time to find a route?

BTW Bob I noticed by clicking on Oki it is a nuvi 660

Are you connecting to satellites?

You can check the satellite status to see if that is your problem. From the main screen click on the satellite bars in the upper left. This will bring up a screen that shows what you are connecting to and the accuracy of your GPSr at the moment.

It can take 10 minutes or more on occasion to link up. Especially if you turn it off at another location or several days earlier.

You could give us an address so that we can try it on ours?

My Garmin (with 2009 map) too has trouble locating a popular street named Doheny Place in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Dead Zone

Tried locating Doheny Place but was given two options 33901 Doheny Park Rd. and Doheny Park Rd. no # Didn't have a street # to enter and subistituted 500.

Bob it is a Nuvi 660 as another poster found. The address is 7740 Manchester Blvd, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293. I can check satellites the next time I'm up there, but it seems odd that other addresses well within the range of the same satellite array (I would guess) are OK. Time/space warp?

Dead Zones in Routing ?????

I notice in a lot of the posts above, there is a reference to satellites involved with making a route.

Satellites do not have anything to do with the making a route process.

The satellites only becomes involved with a route after it is made and you are actively driving a route.

dead zone

The street # is 34810. Doheny Park Rd is next to I-5 whereas Doheny Place is parallel to PCH overlooking the ocean. Can't find that location on Google Map either.
