Here's what I did for MP3 to WAV for 260

Here's what I did to convert MP3 files to WAV files and then load them on an SD card in my Garmin260 for notifications (red light/traffic camera).
1. Downloaded version 14.0.1 of SOX.EXE from http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/
Note: I'm running Windows Vista so I used the EXE for Windows.
2. Placed copy of SOX.EXE in C:\Program Files\Garmin folder. POILoader V2.5.2 will tell you SOX.EXE is missing if it encounters a .WAV file without SOX.EXE in the Garmin folder.
3. Used Audacity Portable to convert MP3 to WAVE -- Export WAVE settings 44100 HZ, 16-bit, MONO
Note: Used Audacity Portable simply so I have a copy with me on the memory stick all the time and not back home on my computer.
4. Placed WAVE file in POI Collection file (use same name for CSV, BMP and WAV files).
5. Upload to SD card using POILoader V2.5.2.
I created a "faked" red light file with a location close to the house so I can test the file. I'll check tonight when I get home to make sure all this works. We don't have any red light cameras near us, but we are traveling to a location that does so we want this to work!
I'm sure others can add any step that I may have missed. Hope this helps. I'll know for sure if it all works later tonight
Test Worked!

And I just finished testing the system operation using the simulator mode and the "faked" red light described above. The WAV voice came through clearly and at the same volume as normal "Jill" voiced directions. Life is good. Hope this helps someone who is trying to do the same thing.

Gary - your page does a great job of filling in some of the blanks that may have caused confusion in my brief discussion above for making a WAV from an MP3 and loading it in the Garmin. Thanks!
