Nuvi Bluetooth issues

I have a Nuvi 660- I also have a Verizon LG-8550 (Chocolate 2) phone. I have no problems making/receiving calls using the bluetooth, but for some reason the phone book will not transfer. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any work around?

Bluetooth

Maybe your phone isn't fully compatible with all the Bluetooth features. I checked the Garmin phone compatibility page, and your model isn't even listed. as being supported. I think there is a way to manually transfer your phone book, but I'm not sure how to do it.

Here is a link to the Garmin Bluetooth phone compatibility page: http://www8.garmin.com/bluetooth/phones.jsp

Thanks

Thanks for the link. This is critical now that handsfree is the law in California.

Phone compatibility

My current phone is a Cingular 8525, and it transfers the phonebook and has all the functionality that the Nuvi is capable of using.

My last phone was an HP IPAQ, and it was NOT fully compatible. I could make calls, but that's about it. No automatic transfer of phonebook, no viewing of previous calls, etc. Making calls, period.

I could manually beam each contact I wanted to move from the phone to the Nuvi. A very time-consuming process and one that is not reversable. In fact, the only way to delete contacts would be to do a reset and delete ALL customesed data, including favoriates & POIs.

If synchronizing the phonebook is important to you, I'd get a new phone if it is truly not completely compatible.

Same here

I'm in the same boat with my phone. It dials fine and answers fine but the phone doesn't support push technology so the phone book isn't available. I'll be getting a new phone in late August and you can bet that functionality will be high on my list of priorities.

Problem Solved?

I got a new phone.... a Verizon Venus (LG-VX8800). It's also not listed as supported on the Garmin website, but it works perfectly. A couple of suggestions for folks.... take your phone to a real store (bestbuy, circuit city) and test it out with the sample GPS' they have there. Also, you can upgrade the version of the bluetooth firmware on your GPS through the Garmin support site. That might help too.

upgrading

My 8525 worked fine until the last several rounds of bluetooth/firmware upgrades came out. I have been unable to restore all the features that use to work with my phone. I believe the problem is a combination of both upgrades.
