200W - Text to speach??

Hi guys....

Really need some help here as it is driving me nuts.

I have the Garmin 250W which is NOT text to speach capable, my belief is that the 255W was the first 200 series to offer this feature.

My buddy purchased a 200W, when we drove to Ottawa on the weekend it clearly had text to speach and both Canada and US maps. I know US as i typed a Buffolo address and it had Buffalo in it's City list. I stoppedshort of actually selected further than City seeing it was just to test if it had US maps.

I was going to recommend the 255W (or higher) but my friend purchased before i had a chance to get together with him. Was i surprised to find out that his did indded have the features, although looking at the Garmin website the unit is NOT supposed to support them.

The garmin has a gloss black frame, and going to confirm on Wednesday again as i still cannot believe it. I'll put it through all it's paces then...just want to know what's up??

That sounds more like the 255 (the black case), are you sure it was a 200?

I double checked however the writing was small. On Wednesday i am going to load up some POI's and vehicles for him and will confirm once again. I'll take some pics to send and it is it like i first thougt, we can try and figure out what is going on.

Perhaps you are right and it is the 255W and i had some trouble reading the small print on the back of the unit, my friend did say that it was a 200W but a double check is clearly in order.

Maybe Garmin installed the wrong software on it.

My 200W does not... but I

My 200W does not... but I don't really miss it... BUT would add it if there was a way to, I guess.

I think your friend got a misboxed 255, or just remembered the model name wrong..

The only 200 series to have TTS

The only model in the 200 series to have TTS before the 255 is the 260 (and 260w). The 200 and the 250 do not.

Thanks everyone....confirmed

Thanks everyone....confirmed it was the Nuvi 260W.

Nice unit, don't quite like the high gloss appearance, matt black is better however text to speach is sweet.
