My 760 is still new

I'm curious about downloading the state parks. Shouldn't they already be in my Garmin?

They may or some may not be. Try a search for those you might go to. Most Custom POI's are probably in the built-in POI database*, but putting them under Extras gives you another way to search, probably an easier way.

*Not in the built-in database would be redlight and speed cameras and rest stops.

Most Interstate Rest Areas

A majority of Interstate Rest Areas are in the built-in POIs BUT you can't get proximity alerts and they don't tell you what facilities are available at the Rest Area or what highway, direction of travel or mile marker they are located at. It just tells you approx. where they are located ex: Rest Area 30.1 mi. NW located in St. Augustine, FL.

Where to? > Auto Services > Rest Area/Tourist Info

At the end of the month

At the end of the month we're going on a 10 day trip to AZ and NM. We've been to the Grand Canyon and this time we're going to check out the meteor crater east of Flagstaff and then Carlsbad Caverns in NM. I did a search for the caverns and couldn't find them but when I actually scrolled to the location, they were there. I just don't understand why I had to hunt for it rather than nuvi finding it automatically by name. Now I typed in Yellowstone and it's searching away. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. I went to "points of interest" and them spelled the name. Maybe when we're closer it will find them more easily?

When you are closer, it will find them more easily. But there are a few things you can typically do on your searches. One is to use the "Near ..." function to type in a location first. The other caveat for searchers is to type in only part of the name. Not probably an issue for Yellowstone, but with many other locations, the name you might be typing in might not be how the location is listed in the database. So type in only part of the name to start with. If you get too many results, then try again with more information. But when searching a database, the typical mantra is "less is more".

Meteor Crater

Meteor Crater is a good take - interesting - good photo ops.
Don't forget to drive around the Sedona area - great scenery.
I find that it's much faster searching for "sites" if you first set up the "near" function to the area you are looking for. When I did a search for "Meteor Crater" from my location in FL it took "forever" to find it - when I set "near" to Flagstaff AZ it took exactly 2 sec. and I only searched for "meteor"
