Off Track

I think my 760 went drinking without me yesterday. For some reason, it showed me going in correct direction, but I showed me traveling about 1 street over to the left, which was out of line. I turned the unit off for about 10 seconds, then turned it back on and it seemed to have corrected itself. Any idea what may have happened. My 11 yr old daughter got a kick out of it, though.

That isn't uncommon at

That isn't uncommon at startup before the unit gets a good position fix. I've had it happen for a couple of minutes before with my 260, then it gets everything sorted out and snaps to the correct location. It's not a regular occurrence, but it does happen.

I have had that happen to me

I have had that happen to me and found that if you don't wait for the gps to get the fix on sats before you drive, you may be off location and the program snaps you to the nearest street to where your coordinates are calculated. So . . . . if your coordinates are calculated closer to the wrong street, you will show up on the GPS traveling on the wrong street. I now try to start the GPS while parked and it works ok. It also has to do with signal strength I think.

Thanks for everyone's

Thanks for everyone's feedback. As I told someone else, I was just more upset that my 760 had a beer or 2 and didn't offer me one.

Next time, I will let it try to get a better signal. That was probably the issue.
