Alerts, alerting twice

Has anyone else had issues, since the latest firmware update, with POI alerts alerting more than once upon approach?

Instead of just sounding one alert, now all of mine alert at least twice and sometimes five or six times. It's getting kind of annoying.

Red light cameras

At some red light camera intersections I'm getting repetitive alerts. It's making me more nuts than I already was.

I'm not sure if it's alerting me to each camera on the 4 corners or what but it's really annoying.

That's exactly what's

That's exactly what's happening to me, do you have the latest updates for your 760 installed? Because mine didn't start until I updated it.

I count intersections not cameras

I only have each intersection represented one time in the file unless it is a really large intersection with 7 or more lanes.

Miss POI

Latest firmware, etc.

Yep. I always update my units. I don't know if that's what's doing it or not since I'm still new to the nüvi.

Continuous Alerts

On the 660, under wrench/ProximityPoints/Alerts-Change/Audio, I am offered 3 settings for alerts:
Single Tone
Continuous-Speed Alerts
Continuous-All Alerts

If your units have a similar setting, is it set to Single Tone?

Finally, I have suggested several times that those who are so bothered by repeated alerts should add 30 seconds of dead air to their custom audio alert and see if that doesn't get them past the POI without multiple alerts. But nobody has reported on having tried it

My GPS does usually alerts

My GPS does usually alerts at least twice, I have not noticed it alerting 5 or 6 times, then again, I just got mine several weeks ago and thought that was normal.

My 650 has been doing this

My 650 has been doing this for a few months now. A couple of alerts befor the redlight and then just after passing thru the intersection

Nope

My 750 does not have that option under the Proximity Points sad

Alert bong's

My 760 only gives 1 choice, on or off (I guess that's 2 choices confused ), most annoying, the speed alert I have counted 15 bong's, that's almost at the point when it is on the way out the window... mad

Test with GPS Off..

Does it do this in 'simulation mode' as well?

(I've not noticed whether my 760 does this, or not - probably because it plays relatively lengthy .mp3 custom audio - and there's not really time to play 5 or 6 times, before I'm past the alert).

I think the plan with speed alerts (as opposed to Proximity alerts), is that they continue to sound, until you reduce your speed below the trigger value. This seems to vary between units though (and between firmware versions).

Speed alert

I agree, it should sound until you reduce your speed, but... I just wish they would let me make the choice to turn that alert off or on and not affect the other POI alerts.

The strip of highway is 100Km limit I drive at 115-120 (that's slow for this road), the 760 only alarms in two spots (the 360 also, but only 2 bongs) of the road on a 60Km trip!!!

Mine isn't a speed alert

My problem isn't with a speed alert. I don't even have any speed alerts set. I get BONG! "You are approaching a red light camera" over and over and over and over........

D'Oh!

I deleted my red light POI and re-sent it. I think the whole problem I had with multiple alerts was caused by user error.

I think that, when I initially loaded the POI file, I manually set an alert. The file has Red Light in the name so the unit automagically sets an alert. My alert and the built-in alert were at different distances from the red light camera.

Once I removed the POI and re-sent it WITHOUT manually setting my own alert - the multiple notification issue went away.

Multiple Red Light Alerts

On my nuvi 760 I only get multiple red light alerts if I stop after the first alert but before the intersection (e.g. stop in a line of traffic at the red light). I get a second alert when I begin moving again. I consider this to be a "feature" not a bug though it can get a bit annoying.

i am also getting multiple

i am also getting multiple alert beeps for "the approaching within x feet of" setting". Is the beep only supposed to sound once, or repeat until destination is reached?
