Kenwood G510

I have just purchased a new Kenwood G510 from the US.
I live in Pert West Australia .
I bought this unit because it is half the price in the US.
I am told buy Garmin Aust, that the unit will work here in Aust. But I have to buy City Nav Australia on dic and put it in the SD slot .
My quetion is , will it function ok .
Because the unit is pre programed with Us maps etc.
I am also worried that the screen functions wont work like in the US.

Any feed back will be apreciated.

I can check my G510 unit

I can check my G510 unit tonight. I live in the US but from what I could tell when I bought it it has maps loaded on it for the whole world... (or at least I know at the furthest zoom out it shows the whole world, and as you zoom in it seemed that roads showed up across the world)

Well, the G510 unit does have the picutre of the whole world but just as you were told there are not any maps other than the US preloaded.

So it sounds like a purchaseing the map is the only way, you can purchase the maps on ebay for cheaper than through garmin. I've acutally emailed garmins Customer Service for a question and they replied promptly(if you have more questions).

Then again if a Garmin Representative already spoke with you then I would follow his/her advice.
