A word about installing maps to a sd card

While installing maps to a SD card using MapSource I noticed that if you installed Brazil on a SD card and then later installed Mexico on the same card, it was like a poi and over-wrote the previously installed map.

I discovered that if, while selecting the map(s) to install, i.e. Mexico, when you have finished selecting all of Mexico’s areas, you can then select Brazil in the tool bar window, and continue selecting maps, and then Australia, Europe, etc….

Now if you have a large enough SD card, when you select install, it will still make one map file (gmapsupp.img) but it will contain all the maps and if you check map info, each map will be listed separately and you can either have the map active or not by clicking on it….

BTW if you have a preloaded map SD card do not use it or you will over-write the existing map. You may get a warning but then again you may not…

I don't think pre-loaded map cards are writable

I do not think you can erase a preloaded map card. They are either locked SDs or unwritable MMC cards.
