What is wrong with me

I obviously have an illness of sorts. An obsession. I find myself reading this forum every few hours throughout each and every day. And sometimes finding myself wandering to other GPS sites, as well. All over a little device that tells me how to get to a specific destination (albeit, not always the best way). I even take it to work, a commute i've done a thousand times,to the coffee shop, for groceries, etc.
When I post a question, the frequency at which I open up my computer probably triples to view and respond to replies. And God help me if I find a suspected issue. I can't help but to research it to death.

Here it is, 2 am and look at me. I'm so ashamed. Tell me i'm not alone.

Tomorrow I'm putting the darn thing in my drawer and will not look at it for a whole week, and I won't bother my wife with little details about my gps that she has no interest in.

Who am I kidding, Can't wait to see reviews on the new 2X5's. Going to be a long summer.

Many are like yourself,

Many are like yourself, don't feel alone!

I have a little quirk where my touch tones keep coming back on and I don't want to send it in because I don't want to be without it, even though I have no plans to go anywhere but home and work.

At least your not addicted

At least your not addicted to always getting new pois. I have 600k and counting. Always looking back at this site ever 2 hours to see if there is any new/updated pois that I need.

You Are Not Alone

asianfire, I've observed the same "feature" with touch tones randomly switching back on with 650 and 680 nuvis.

ridgeliner, not to feed your (my?) obsession, but I'm curious...
Is the simulator (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/7556) problem still occurring on your new 760?

I guess obsessing over POI website is better than some others you could have! smile

Heehehehheehehe, another one bites the dust. Welcome to my lair, you are a nice addition to my collection of GPS obsessed beings razz

Obsessed

I have had to restrict myself to checking this site to only a "few" time a day. My wife thinks I have a new girlfriend, as much time I have been spending here and with my GPSr. She doesn't complain when we get to our destinations quickly due to to the GPSr and assorted POIs.

Did you ever resolve the issue?

Did you ever find a solution to it? Did you ever call Garmin about it?

I never found out what the problem with the simulator was, it was on the Nuvi 650 I had that was also hanging up on Blue tooth. I know, it doesn't even have bluetooth. Needless to say, I returned that before the 30 day exchange.

I now have the 760 costco special. Aye, and she's a beauty. Slim, light on her feet and treats me right. Bugging me about the SD card thingy though. But all and all, she's a keeper.

It's an honor to be apart of your collection of beings. Learning something new everyday

2 AM, NO, Never

I like to check this site about 2 times a day, but when I'm ready for bed, that's it for me, nothing for me, no TV, Computer or GPS will keep me away from my dreams.

My girlfriend got jealous over the attention that I was giving Emily, my C340.

So I got a new and better girlfriend. grin

There is a little difference!

A wife is just a wife, but my Nuvi is so much more..............

It seems they both have one trait in common. NAG NAG NAG...

HAaaahhaa, I can always tell the messages that don't get read by a spouse. My wife is my world, along with my children. My GPSr's are just toys and I can buy as many as I want or need. My family is priceless. My GPSr's end up in the closet as I finish with them, I have many, But only one wife and I thank my lucky stars she was sent in my DIRECTION.

I have successfully loaded 1.45 Billion POIs into my NUVI750. Had to take out the GMAPPROM.IMG file and only leave the Base Map GMAPBMAP.IMG and delete all except 1 voice file, 1 text file, 1 vehicle file,1 help file.

See attached Link:
http://home.comcast.net/~hannah.burns/ScreenShots/PoiLoader-...

I now own a GPS that the NorthAmerica Map with the exception of the Northern Territories looks like one big grey dot, until you zoom in to 80 ft.

I takes a little time booting up but it gets there eventually. But routing is a little problem without the GMAPPROM.IMG file. Still routes but only on the Base Map which causes a lot of off-road driving.

Good thing I have a H3 Hummer it will go almost anywhere.

Onward and Upward !!!!

Oh, you loaded yours directly into your Garmin. I was loading mine on an sd card. Imagine 3 Billion+ pois using those 8 GB Sd cards. grin

my husbands space....

My husband had me read this "what's wrong with me" section... - seems he wanted me to know that "he" is not the only one addicted to his GPS... We do love it - BUT, he is REALLY in love with "ROXIE" (WE NAMED HER) ... If that is my competition then I will live with it... It's a wonderful hobbie for him and I've used it many times to get me where I need to go. He needs to tell you all what he's done with his research and all the hours he's put into this new hobbie of his. It's amazing... And at least it keeps him home and near me...

He could be doing a lot worse things. In the overall scheme of things, a GPS is pretty innocent.

There is nothing wrong with you.

After reading all these posts, now you know that there is nothing wrong with you. Many of us can't go a day without at least one POI "fix".

It's a good habit to be into! smile
