looks like it fixed some issues with MSN Direct, display issues and crashing.

Changes made from version 2.90 to 3.00:

* Corrected issues with GPI files causing unit crashes
* Corrected the expiring MSN Direct stocks after 5 days instead of 3
* Corrected clipping at the beginning of voice instructions
* Corrected compatibility issue with some MSN Direct receivers
* Corrected issue with web favorites category display other types of points in MSN v2
* Corrected local events not removing some dates correctly in MSN v2
* Corrected GPI route display issues
* Corrected Text language disappearing when changing modes
* Corrected issue with Asian language support
* Corrected issue with not being able to access additional information about GPI point
* Corrected shutdown during postal code lookup

Just off the top of my head, do you use the Garmin Webupdater to get this new unit software?

Yes

Thanks for the tip. I've just updated and all's well. I suppose I should take it out for a test ride now, even with $4 gas.

Thanks again.

Yes! It is pretty straight forward, just follow the prompts.

I think I may have been hearing a bit of this. Thanks for the note. I'll have to pay attention next time I'm on that road to see if the voice is better.

Installed...

I just installed the update and also let it check for other updates. Mixed in with all the voice files that I deleted were some updates for the languages I do use so I installed them too. I took the updates for Jack and Jill and the non-TTS American English as well as the updates for the TTS voices for Australian and British English.

I didn't have any issues with the updates and it was very fast and easy to do.

Also Fixed

760 v2.9, when in stopped off road (like a parking lot), the map used to jump around as the position fix became more or less accurate. I noticed v3 kind of fixed that glitch.

7xx Version 3.0 - Two issues

I installed 3.0. Noticed two things that may have been there with previous versions but I missed. There has been some past discussion elsewhere as to whether favorites and routes are deleted when the 7xx units are reset. Most, including myself, indicated that these items were not deleted upon reset. However, in resetting my 750 after installing Version 3.0 (I reset the Nuvi for another reason that may be unrelated to the 3.0 installation). It now appears that a reset does indeed delete all my favorites and active routes from the Nuvi's internal memory. Upon restarting the Nuvi after the reset, I found many, but not all, of my favorites still there, but none of my active routes. But in my case I have a number of renamed route .gpx files stored in the GPX subfolder. Upon restarting, the Nuvi will automatically reload any waypoints found in these .gpx files to the internal favorite list. So it would not be initially obvious to me that the reset did indeed delete my favorites, unless I noticed that any favorites I had created directly on the Nuvi were missing. After the reset, I had no more active routes, but all the routes in my .gpx files (created in MapSource, saved on the PC and copied directly to the Nuvi using Windows Explorer) still showed as available for import. I only lost any active routes that I had created directly on the Nuvi. So, I believe if I had not have had any .gpx files stored on the Nuvi, a reset would have effectively deleted all my favorites and routes (along with the usual other user set parameters). But a reset doesn’t seem to delete any files in the user accessible directories on the Nuvi. I don't know if the deletion of favorites/ active routes is new with 3.0 or we just didn't notice before for the abovementioned reasons.

I also downloaded the 3D triangle icon at the same time as the 3.0 update. Now I find that the Nuvi will only recognize two different vehicle icons in the Change Vehicle area even if I have several more vehicle files there. The up/down arrows are "grayed" out (this is why I reset the Nuvi to see if the reset would fix, It didn't). Again this issue may have arisen with a previous firmware update as I haven't tried to change a vehicle icon for several versions. And if it materialized on this occasion, I don’t know if the issue has resulted from the 3.0 update or the vehicle icon download.

I have done the update to 3.0

I added one vehicle to my vehicles list after the update, previously there were two, a car and a triangle... I can access all three now. Maybe you need to add the icons again, the download may have deleted them... just a thought.

I added a couple of more..

and they are all accessible, maybe your vehicle files were corrupted when the update occurred. I renamed my vehicle file xvehicle, made a vehicle file on my SD card to see if that might solve a problem with updating, after I did this the triangle was visible on the map, and when I clicked on change vehicle I got a message to go to Garmin.com etc. So it would appear that you can't put your vehicles on an SD card... I renamed the vehicle file added a couple of more files and all was well. rolleyes

Worked for me

Just did the firmware update to 3 as well as some voices and a Bluetooth update. Everything seems fine. I will road test it from Portland to Spokane on Monday and will report anything unusual -- good or bad.

UpDated

Updated and no problems. ran the 750 through it's paces and no problems.

Change Vehicle

Did any of you who can still access more than two vehicle types in your Nuvi after updating to 3.0, also download the 3D triangle via webupdater (unlikely I suppose)? I suspect that may be the root of my problem. My actual vehicle files are okay, I've swapped them in and out of the Nuvi and the icons work just fine. The problem is the Nuvi will display only the first two in the Vehicle directory. Even though there are more vehicle files in the directory, since the scroll arrows are grayed out, I cannot access them. I suppose it could be a problem with my 3.0 upgrade itself (corruption of some sort) but I’m loath to mess with it because everything else seems to be okay and I do have the vehicle icon I want being displayed.

Change Vehicle

I reloaded old Firmware Version 2.3 to the Nuvi (I decided to go a long way back) and all my vehicle choices then showed up properly in the Change Vehicle option. I then reloaded the new Version 3.0 (this time doing it directly via the .exe file and bypassing webupdater) and once again only two vehicles show. Otherwise Version 3.0 seems to work great. Still suspect that my downloading the 3D triangle via webupdater caused my vehicle problem and not the Version 3.0 update per se, although the issue is obviously tied into the firmware version somehow. It's not a big deal since I'm using the vehicle icon I want anyway.

What Version

Thanks changed to Ver.3 this morning

Sat Locate Delay

I did notice that it took quite a while to relocate the sats after updating. Works fine now though.

760 repeats itself

I've noticed my 760 repeats itself on turns. I was going down an off-ramp and it said in .2 mile, turn right at Mills Rd., then said, in 2.2 miles, turn right at onto Mill Rd, after I made the turn, it said turn right onto Mill Rd...after I made the turn. I don't know why it went from .2 to 2.2 miles either, unless it stuttered like some people have said these do at times.

It does it when I pull into my drive way. It tells me I've arrived then tells me to turn again.

It still chops some pronunciations of street names.

I don't know if this is a 3.0 or 760 glitch since I just bought it and did all the updates before I used it.
