can Mapsource download a usable route to a garmin Novi 260?

I recently downloaded mapsource from Garmin. I modified a route the program initially mapped and then sent the map to my Novi 260. I didn't find the map in the unit. Presently I do not have a memory card in the unit, not sure if that would be a download requirement. (Any hint on what to look for or is this a feature of higher Garmin models?)

The unit performs well and looking forward to testing the POIs I have loaded.

No routes on nüvi 2x0

I don't think any of the nüvi 2x0 GPSrs support routes. The only thing I use Mapsource for is working with my Favorites, and sending supplemental maps to the SD card.

it does not work with the

it does not work with the 3xx series either, but the points on the route can be downloaded to Faves, and some creative use (ordering them properly) has been reported. in terms of importing routes, i too wish i could export it from google map on my 350, but no such function so far. maybe the higher models can do it, 7xx series?

The 260 does not support routes

The 260 does not support routes from any source. I create them in MapSource, then save any necessary waypoints as a .gpx and load them as a custom POI file. I name them so that they will be displayed in the order in which I want to navigate them, then just go from point to point. I just find it easier to plan trips and waypoints in MapSource than the unit itself, and it's easy to save and upload them as custom POI's, and that way I don't clutter up my Favorites folder with routes that are only used one time. I save the POI files in a special "Trip" folder, and move them in and out of the POI Loader folder as needed.
