death valley poi

I saved the death valley poi to a file on my desktop. When I open garmins poi downloader I get to the screen for browsing for file. I open the folder and the death valley csv file isn't there. I'm sorry to ask but what am I doing wrong?

Folders

Most people set up a folder for their POIs. For example make a folder called POI on your C: drive and put the Death Valley POI in there. Then when you open the POI Loader and get the screen for browsing, point it to C:POI.

If you have them on your desktop, you need to get the browser to look at the desktop in order to find the csv file. That way works, but its just a bit more cumbersome in my opinion.

thanks

Wow how simple, thanks for the help. Is there a way to manage the poi's into folders for easier finding, especially if you download alot.

Yes, each file of POI's that

Yes, each file of POI's that you load will go into a separate category under "Custom POIs". The name of the folder will be the name of the POI file that you have on your computer. For example if you have 2 files called RedLight_Cams.csv and MyBank_ATMs.gpx, your categories under Custom POIs will read:
All Categories
MyBank_ATMs
RedLight_Cams

Depth of file folders

If you use the beta version of POI Loader, you can set up folders that go to a second level. You can't go further than that.

For example:
Traffic
RedLight_Cams
SpeedTraps
Locations
Waterfalls
Casinos
Contacts...

In the above example, a folder for traffic has two files. The file for contacts is in the same folder as the folders for traffic and locations.

On your GPS, under Custom POIs you will see Traffic, Locations, and Contacts. If you select Traffic, you will see RedLight and SpeedTraps.
